In the twilight of a held-back sob, we have locked the door behind us, opened the tap all the way, pressed our palms against the edge of the sink, hunched our shoulders and let them shake, and wept alongside the running water.

In the twilight of a held-back sob, we have locked the door behind us, opened the tap all the way, pressed our palms against the edge of the sink, hunched our shoulders and let them shake, and wept alongside the running water. We have lifted our heads and, in the mirror—that magical human invention—stared into our own eyes; our hearts have ached at the redness of our own eyes, and we have wept for ourselves, simply and transparently, again and again.

"Quarantine" is an informal, friendly invitation to look at oneself in the mirror and to draw oneself using the simplest tools on paper, in these days of staying home.

Quarantine is the name of a project by Galerie Atelier Kaboud. The open call for Quarantine was released in Esfand 1399 [February–March 2021], almost coinciding with the outbreak of COVID-19—a friendly invitation to look in the mirror and offer a simple expression of oneself on paper during the days of staying home.
